I cant believe I watch the entire 2hours documentary of an unimaginable journey of a highly respected pilot in aviation. What an inspiration for me to be "live a dream".
I was thinking just the same : i'm not into this kind of videos, but this one showed a lot of diverse and interesting parts of what is "flying a A380" and more. I don't only feel respect for this guy i'll never meet, but also for all that leaded to this last flight, including the great team work... (do they have erased some shameful parts ? it looks so "perfekt"...). Thx for sharing !
Must be retired about 13 years now. Wonder what Captain Jürgen flies these days. Whatever he's doing, he's living the dream rather than dreaming the life, undoubtedly.
Thanks for the further info. He did mention AZ in the vid. Flying a helicopter would be cool. Brings to mind that I rode next to the pilot in a helicopter into the Grand Canyon. Loved it.
I was 15 when this video came out from PilotEyes. Still have the Bluray at parents house ! Even in 2024, it's still one the best cockpit video ever made
I think you are thinking of the inaugural flight of LH 454 into SFO 10 years ago. This was just streamed on June 9, 2024. During the pandemic LH 454 was flown by either the 747-8 or 777. The original video of LH 454 only included the last 15 minutes or so of the approach over the Bay and the landing on 28R.

I have the utmost respect for pilots. They hold the lives of hundreds of people in their charge every time they take flight. They are truly amazing people.
After all these years I've watched a lot of flight videos, being a light pilot myself, can't believe I missed that one. It was probably the best I have ever seen and the first one that made me cry. What an incredible moment. Live your dreams! Thanks for sharing.
I stumbled upon this video, despite watching the return flight, San Francisco to Frankfurt, many times. As a kid, I always wanted to be an airline pilot but did not have 20/20 vision that I was told back then was necessary. I believe the requirements these days are not as stringent. I then spent 34 years as a meteorologist, so enjoyed being a part of the extended aviation community. Enjoyed every second of it until retiring in 2019. I’ve since, at the ripe old age of 59, started my private pilot licence training. Through the years, life got in the way of doing this earlier, despite the encouragement of my wife. Tough getting through that picture section of this video without almost shedding a tear or two. That quote “Live your dream and don’t dream your life” really struck a chord. Congratulations Captain Raps. A job/career well done. Happy retirement.
JR is so normal and authentic, that's what I love and makes it an experience to join a flight like this, and any other flight that has become public with him.
This year I had the pleasure of taking a flight on a LH A380. My first time on a A380.... Fantastic aircraft, so quiet in the cabin, so smooth. I loved it
Phenomenal video footage!! LH is #1 with aerial videos as well as onboard service! My grandmother flew on LH from Frankfurt to JFK in 1963 and I was just a child of 7 years old when we saw her land at JFK to come to live with us in New York, Queens Long Island. I regret I missed my calling to become an airline pilot.
Greetings from Norway. This was just FAB! Ohhh, the climb out and right turn at that FL passing Golden Gates was spectacular. Loved every minute. Thank you all and enjoy your retirement, Captain Raps.
Thank you very much for taking me on this flight. I hope that Jürgen was able to realize his second dream of growing asparagus and is successful with it. I wish his colleagues who are still flying "always happy landings". Don't dream your life, live your dream is a good advice, but e. g. if you miscalculate by a power of ten, can't remember a five-digit number for a few seconds, don't know the average distance from the earth to the moon or can't convert correctly into astronomical units even with a calculator, then you'll quickly lose your dream during an application test with an airline.😉
Tolles Video, wie es das tollste Passagierflugzeug der Neuzeit in vielen Facetten beleuchtet und einen super Piloten. ! Danke für dieses tolle Erlebnis .

Still a nice video. I never understood why they were using reversers on that last simulation segment landing. Is "green" only the inboard engines, so that's standard procedure on the A380?

yes..miss 380 and 747 prime season..
You can now live on the nostalgia by trying out the Flybywire A380
